Its that time of year again when leaves begin to turn from a universal shade of green to a variety of vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows, and the air transitions from hot and humid to cool and crisp.
As the season turns, it’s also time to make a transition in our wardrobe. It can be a bittersweet process as you rotate the content of your closet from your favorite shorts and tanks to jeans and sweaters. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be! Fall is the one season where you can have your pumpkin spice latte and drink it too! An advantage to generating fall looks is that you can recycle your summer wardrobe and add layers to adjust to the changing temperature, creating the perfect outfit for all of those fall activities you will be partaking in. Here’s how:
You can dress up almost any top with a cute blazer while adding an extra layer of warmth. Blazers can dress and warm up one of your favorite summer tops, and you’re obviously not limited to just tanks and tees! You can add a blazer to your favorite dress and add a pair of tights to make it fall appropriate. When it comes to fall, layering is key.
If you aren’t quite ready to give your shorts up just yet, the good news is that you don’t have to. Invest in tights and your summer fling with your favorite pair of shorts doesn’t have to just be short-lived. You can wear these under your shorts and pair them with a cute pair of riding boots. The addition of tights will keep you from shivering in said boots while keeping you stylish.
Seriously, you can pair these with jeans, leggings, or even with your newfound love of shorts and tights. They complete almost any outfit while providing warmth for your feet and legs while you’re out picking the perfect pumpkin.
Cardigans of every shape and size are a girl’s best friend. Like blazers, you can pair your favorite tank with these. A short cardigan paired with belted jeans, boots, and a scarf makes the perfect for a salted caramel mocha date. You can also combine an oversized cardigan with leggings, riding boots, and a plain tee for a comfy yet put together look.
Sweatshirts get a bad reputation. I’m not suggesting you all start sporting your grandmothers’ attires. You know the kind I’m talking about – the ones with the ironed on graphic of a kitten inside a pumpkin. Cute sweatshirts do exist if you do a little digging, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised as to how many ways you can wear them. You can also find cute oversized sweatshirts to pair with leggings and boots for yet another comfy/casual ensemble.
Sometimes you just don’t want to wear jeans. They can be restricting and let’s face it, sometimes you just want to be comfortable but still look like you haven’t completely given up. This is where leggings come into the picture. Not only are they comfortable, but when they are paired with the right top, they can look great too. Who said beauty is pain? Plus, they even come in a fleece-lined variety so you can wear them on a hay ride and still look cute, be comfortable and stay warm.
Scarves are the perfect fall accessories. You can dress up or add variety to any outfit with one of these. Plus, not only are they cheap, but they also come in a variety of colors, which means you can have a scarf to match every outfit. You can never have too many!
The versatility of fall apparel means there is no excuse for you to not look your best, making your fall wardrobe deserving of some of your best outfits.
